Solful Therapy

Connect & Glow
An authentic connection to ourselves and others gives us a foundation for positive self-image, healthy relationships, and healthy coping. When we have not had an authentic and safe connection in childhood, or go through life transitions and periods of stress, our connection with ourselves and our partners can be impacted. If you are trying to learn more about yourself, deepen your relationship with your partner, or remain connected through life transitions or a growing family, I am here to support you.
Connect with yourself, your partner, & experience growth
About Me
Hi! I’m Rhiannon Garcia-Penning, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (153386) and founder of Solful Therapy.
I believe in the importance of authentic connection, not only in our relationships with others but also with ourselves. We may feel as though parts of ourselves are hidden or broken, but we can practice healing and recreate our relationship to self, a partner, and loved ones. I use the therapeutic space to help you explore the hidden parts of yourself or relationships and model how to deepen these connections or create new ones. My belief in the power of connection informs my interest in both sex therapy and perinatal therapy.
Our sexual identities are rooted in our culture, community, values, and what we believe about ourselves and what it means to be in partnership with others. Our current sexual identities may seem to clash with the values that were given to us, or with our partners’ beliefs. Life transitions, stress, and unsafe experiences may further shift our ability to connect with our partners and ourselves authentically. My goal is to help you explore the values, beliefs, and experiences that informed your sexual self and increase wellness to allow for meaningful intimacy.
The perinatal period is all about reconnection-with our bodies, our minds, our partners, and building a relationship with this new human that has joined our lives! This is a vulnerable time of life and can become more challenging when birth trauma, lack of sleep, depression, and anxiety come into play. My goal in perinatal therapy is to remain at your side as you learn to integrate this new identity into your already whole self.
I studied at Pepperdine University, where I obtained my Master’s in Clinical Psychology before becoming an LMFT. I am now working toward AASECT Sex Therapy certification with the Sexual Health Alliance and Perinatal certification with Postpartum Support International.
After years of working as a trauma therapist, I learned to integrate some holistic practices with what I learned in my education and training. I believe that this integrated approach allows for increased opportunity to learn about and connect with our authentic selves and our loved ones.
My belief in equity is ingrained in my work as a therapist. I have experience supporting individuals with various identities and believe that everyone deserves to authentically connect with themselves and their partners. I am kink-aware and LGBTQiA+ friendly.
If what I have shared resonates with you, or if you have any questions, I invite you to reach out.
I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Frequently asked questions
-
Sex therapy is a form of psychotherapy that can integrate various styles to increase sexual wellness, decrease sexual dysfunction or compulsive sexual behaviors by exploring thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and values that impact your sexual identity. Our sexual selves are a part of our overall identity and sexual trauma and dysfunction can lead to decreased connections with our selves and our partners. The goal of sex therapy is to serve as a tool to reconnect to the self and in relationship.
Sex therapy is not a space to just discuss sexual experiences and interests.

Perinatal therapists work with expecting and new parents throughout pregnancy and after childbirth to support individuals and couples transition into this new phase of life. They can support healing from birth trauma, postpartum depression & anxiety along with promoting reconnection within a relationship.
